By the Numbers

Since it's going to take us FOREVER to recap our whole incredible Papua trip, we figured we'd do a few quick, intermittent blogs to tide you over while you wait for all the details. In the style of Sports Illustrated, here are some crucial numbers from the trip. (Many of them may not make sense, but I'm sure they will after the full recap is done!)

1 - Number of shirts mom brought for a 10-day trip
1 - Number of beds in the village we visited
0 - Number of mattresses in the village we visited ("spongy spongy")
2 - Number of feet taller everyone in our group was compared to the tallest Papuan
2 - Number of toilet handles Leah broke
2 - Number of words in Duke's funniest joke ever
3 - Number of minutes it takes Papuans to change a popped truck tire going up a very steep mountain
7 - Number of miles we hiked uphill... both ways.
20 - Number of American dance moves Molly taught to the Papuans
19 - Number of American dance moves that made no sense to the Papuans (sprinkler, lawn mower, what??)
20 - Number of consecutive MasterMind games Leah played on the 2-hour plane ride
25 - Number of white people that exist in the world, through the eyes of a Papuan ("Do you know my friend who lives in Canada??")
50 - Number of fist pounds Leah gave the Papuans, forever changing their culture
53 - Number of people we fit into the back of a flat bed truck in the middle of a Papuan parade
70 - Number of pictures taken of us each day on Papuan cell phones... also the number of handshakes we received each day
110 - Number of seconds for the longest recorded handshake
200 - Number of patients seen at our clinic on Friday
50 - Number of patients with funny complaints at the clinic on Friday ("I get short of breath when I climb mountains" and "My fingers are numb when I put them in cold water")
3,000 - Number of people marching as part of the "all-inclusive parade"
Immeasurable - Joy felt while watching the people receive the Word in their own language for the very first time
